Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The types of attacks thrown at her were vicious and highly immoral. There are a lot of people on this site who exhibited the same type of behavior, namely people exactly like Nearing.

Your an absolute joke, just quit spreading hate on the internet and go do something with your life.

Please. She set herself up time and time again.

For instance, what adult woman with any sense at all carries on a public argument with the boy who impregnated her teenage daughter?

She's her own worst enemy.

If Palin had admitted her mistakes, I would have looked at her a second time. However, she just lied and blamed. When she could not say the name of one newspaper, if she had come back and said that she was so nervous that she could barely remember her name- I would have laughed and liked her. We all get nervous and we all goof. If she would have come back after saying seeing Russia made her an expert on foreign affairs and said that was a rather dumb answer to an important question and then preceded to say what might make her an informed candidate on foreign affairs I would have seen a candidate that was willing to admit mistakes, correct them and move forward. However, she just blamed and blamed and tried to make it into a 'good' answer when it was not.

However, to really be truthful she should have said rather soon that she had made a mistake and that the VP job required experience and knowledge that she did not yet possess. If she had stepped out gracefully instead of pretending she could do what she could not- I would have respected her.

For Palin to leave before the end of her term without explanation to her constituency is extremely self-serving, no matter how she tries to spin it.

I suppose it remains to be seen if this ends up being seen by most as "the reason" she resigned. If so, she can say goodbye to her political asperations. While it effectively plays the sympathy card with her conservative base - which she's been doing for some time now - it will do nothing for her with the independents where she really needs it. They'll see it as a sign of weakness and inability to deal with criticism. If she tries to run in 2012, and this is the accepted reason behind her resignation, her critics will have a field day.

I maintain that it's too early to call it, but something like this is going to be pretty damaging. If it sticks, and causes her to fail in 2012, I get the feeling there will be some icy Thanksgiving dinners with her brother.

"Could you pass the stuffing?"

"I hear they have great stuffing at the White House."

"Knock it off, Sarah."
